How do we check pupils progress?

Reading records are checked by Newquay Primary Academy staff at least twice a week to maintain a regular dialogue with parents.

Teacher check pupils’ progress following daily reading lessons and provide extra support where needed. For example, some pupils receive pre teaching where they are introduced to upcoming vocabulary. Other pupils receive ‘catch up’ intervention during the afternoons.

We provide 1-1 tutoring for the children to ensure they do not fall behind and are still able to feel success with their reading with word blending books being sent home during the first term for all pupils.
