Newquay Primary Academy is a brand new school. We opened the doors to our new school building in 2025.
We are proudly part of the Cornwall Education Learning Trust and share a site with Newquay Tretherras secondary school. This means that, from Reception through to Sixth Form, our learning community shares an approach to education which focuses on achieving excellence and ensuring that each child achieves their potential.

This afternoon, Shannon class learnt about different states ( Solids, Liquids and Gases). We learnt about the presentation of the particles in each of these and headed to the hall to recreate them in a class group. The children had lots of fun (in particular when they became a solid) and were able to transfer this learning to the rest of their science lesson.

This afternoon, Shannon Class had the opportunity to take part in the Big Future Survey to represent NPA. They carefully considered their answers and provided valuable insights into what it is like to be a child in today's world. Their thoughtful contributions reflected their experiences, perspectives, and hopes for the future. We are very proud of the maturity and engagement they showed throughout the survey. The Children's Commissioner for England, Dame Rachel de Souza, has launched The Big Future survey to hear directly from children and young people about their lives, hopes, worries and ideas for the future The survey is open to children and young people aged 0–18 and can be completed with support from parents/carers where needed. There are also accessible options available for children and young people with SEND It only takes around 5 minutes to complete! This is a chance for children and young people's voices to help shape future decisions and influence Government thinking Take part here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/TheBigFuture/ Find out more here: https://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/the-big-future/ Closing date: October 2026

This week Joshua class have been inspired by the story ' The fish who could wish' In adventure time they challenged themselves to make Fish tangrams, using their careful cutting skills to cut the shapes. They also thought about what a wish for a fish may look like and used junk modelling materials to create their own wish. In play dough island they had fun creating their own sea creatures, and this afternoon outside they used watercolours to paint fish and sea creatures. What a busy, fun first day back after half term!

Elmer Day at NPA! On Friday 22nd May, just before half term, NPA celebrated Elmer Day, a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate diversity, inclusion, and everything that makes us unique. Across the school, classes took part in a range of exciting activities focused on understanding and appreciating our differences. We shared discussions about what makes each of us special and why our individuality should be celebrated. Trent and Shannon Classes worked together to create their very own giant Elmer! After learning about diversity and inclusion, pupils designed colourful patches that were brought together to create a fantastic collaborative piece of artwork, showing how our differences make something truly amazing when combined. Tamar Class celebrated Elmer Day by talking about what makes us all different and special, and why it is good to be unique. The children enjoyed reading Elmer stories, designed their own colourful Elmers, and wrote thoughtful sentences explaining what makes each of them special and unique. Severn Class spent time exploring the meaning behind Elmer Day and discussing why diversity and inclusion are so important. Through thoughtful conversations, the children reflected on the many things that make us different, including our interests, talents, appearances and personalities. They shared their ideas respectfully and recognised that our differences help make our school community a welcoming and special place for everyone. Joshua Class also enjoyed celebrating Elmer Day. The children listened to the Elmer story, discussed inclusion and diversity, wrote sentences describing Elmer, and designed their own colourful elephants. They all looked fantastic and embraced the spirit of the day with enthusiasm and creativity. It was a wonderful day filled with learning, creativity, teamwork, and celebration. We are so proud of all our pupils for recognising that our differences are what make us special.

We would like to invite you to an information meeting about the role or Community Champion. The meeting will take place at 5.30pm on the 16th June at NPA. Community Champions work alongside school leaders to help share what it really feels like to be part of our school, from the perspective of pupils, families, staff and the wider community. The insight gathered is also shared with CELT Trustees, helping to ensure that the voice of our school community is heard at a wider level. This isn't a traditional governance role as there is no formal responsibility for decisions or scrutiny. Instead, Champions focus on listening and bringing together the voices and experiences of our community. As a Champion, you might: Talk to pupils, parents and staff Attend school events and activities Get a feel for day-to-day school life Share what's working well and where things could improve Your insight will help strengthen connections between the school and community, ensuring everyone feels heard, supported and valued. If you are passionate about our school and would like to get involved in a flexible, rewarding volunteering role, we would love to see you at the meeting!

A huge thank you to the 12 children from choir who represented NPA so spectacularly yesterday evening at the Eco Beats Jamboree! They had a fantastic day sifting for microplastics, creating necklaces from rubbish found on beaches, designing album covers, and singing their hearts out throughout the day, ready for their performance in the evening. A few weeks ago, the children had spent a fun-filled, creative day with songwriter Emily Barden, taking on the challenge of composing a brand-new eco-themed song for local schools written entirely by the children in the workshop. It was incredibly special to see them bring that song to life in front of a church full of adults with a truly goosebump-worthy performance. The children did amazingly well and we are all super proud of how well they represented NPA. A huge well done to Miss Sutherland and Mrs Hughes as well for making it happen!

As part of our RE learning, yesterday Tamar Class visited a Christian church to help them answer the questions: How do Christians welcome a new baby? and How do people show that they belong to each other? During their visit, they learned that Christians welcome a new baby through a baptism. Parents and godparents stand around the font while the baby is baptised. A cross is drawn on the baby's head and a candle is lit as special symbols. Family and friends then celebrate together to welcome the baby into the Christian community. Our learners also learnt that Christians show they belong to each other through marriage. A wedding is a celebration of love where a vicar reads from the Bible and the couple exchange rings as a symbol of love and commitment. The children had great fun taking part in a pretend wedding and baptism, helping them bring their learning to life.
